Dublin's best spots for photoshoots. Part 1 -Liffey River and the Temple Bar District

I love my city! It has a lot of character and beauty just waiting to be discovered and photographed.

In today's blog I will share my favorite spots in Dublin to do a photoshoot.

Let's start with the city centre. Dublin City Centre has everything. Cobblestone streets, amazing street art, picturesque buildings, and colorful backgrounds.

Liffey River

The Liffey River divide Dublin into the North side and the South side. The boardwalk near the Ha'penny Bridge is my favorite spot ( north side ). I have done surprise proposals, engagement shoots, and even a fashion shoots there and it never fails to amaze. The light at sunset along that area is just gorgeous. Here are my favorite shots so far.

I just can't get enough of the view by the River Liffey and I think it shows. Most of my shoots will have at least 2-3 shots by the river. If you will ask me where I would suggest we do a the shoot I will always suggest the area by the Liffey River.

Temple Bar district

Paris has the Eiffel Tower, Rome has the Colosseum and Dublin has the Temple Bar. :) It is in my opinion the single most photographed building in all of Ireland. I love the flowers hanging on the walls, the street art on every corner and the cobblestone streets.

Here are my favorite shots so far of the Temple Bar District.

What makes the area around Ha'penny Bridge so special for photography is the quality of light you get at golden hour. As the sun dips toward the west, the River Liffey catches the warm glow and reflects it back in a way that naturally flatters couples and fills every frame with atmosphere. Whether we are doing an engagement session, a surprise proposal, or a travel lifestyle shoot, the riverbank consistently delivers something magical.

The Temple Bar district is one of those rare spots where every wall, every cobblestone, and every hanging basket of flowers becomes part of the story. The colorful Victorian pub frontages create instant pops of color that contrast beautifully against more neutral outfits. I always suggest that couples arriving from abroad keep Temple Bar as their first stop — there is nothing quite like it anywhere else in Europe.

If you are planning a visit to Dublin and would love a photoshoot to capture the trip, the city centre is the perfect starting point. I typically combine both the Liffey boardwalk and the Temple Bar area in a single two-hour session, which gives us plenty of variety without feeling rushed. The streets around Merchant's Arch and Crown Alley are also worth exploring for quieter, more intimate frames.

Dublin photographs differently in every season. In summer you get long golden evenings that stretch past 9pm. In winter the Christmas lights along Grafton Street and around Temple Bar turn the whole district into something cinematic. Whatever time of year you visit, there is always something worth capturing — and I would love to be the one behind the camera.
